08 March 2017 BRUSSELS – The Philippine Embassy held a pre-launch of International Women’s Month with an all-women dual citizenship oath-taking ceremony on February 24 at the Embassy’s Bulwagan ng mga Pangulo.

These 10 former Filipino citizens visited the Embassy to re-acquire their Philippine citizenship under Republic Act No. 9225 - the Citizenship Retention and Reacquisition Act of 2003. 

Second Secretary and Consul Oliver Delfin administered their oath of allegiance.

Meanwhile, on February 27 First Secretary and Consul Maria Anna Lilia L. De Vera led the officers and staff of the Philippine Embassy in the Flag-Raising Ceremony. A brief program was held announcing the National Women’s Month celebration and reading of the Philippine Government’s statement on the commemoration of Women’s Month.

For the whole month of March, the Embassy’s Consular Section will distribute the brochures on the Magna Carta of Women to all the applicants and on March 08, International Women’s Day, lucky female applicants will be receiving freebies.  

The theme for 2017 National Women’s Month Celebration is “We Make Change Work for Women” and is part of the Philippine Government’s commitment to the protection of women’s rights and full implementation of Philippine Republic Act No. 9710 or the Magna Carta of Women. END
