08 March 2017 DHAKA — The Philippine Embassy in Dhaka joined the International Mother Language Institute (IMLI) in celebrating International Mother Language Day 2017 on February 25.

IMLI held a Children’s Art Competition followed by the cultural program that was participated in by the staff and family members of diplomatic missions in Bangladesh.

The Philippine Embassy’s Vice Consul LV De Guzman and the Cultural Officer Lauren Arce met with Professor Dr. Jinnat Imtiaz Ali, Director General of the International Mother Language Institute and discussed Bangladesh’s policies and plans on promoting the Bangla language in local schools and universities, as well as lessons that could be learned from the Philippines’ experience in institutionalizing and advancing Filipino language education and appreciation among the youth.
