08 March 2017 NEW YORK – The Filipinas Institute for the Advancement of Arts and Culture (FILARTS), Inc. opened its group show at the Lobby-Gallery of the Philippine Center in New York on 6 March 2017.

Dubbed “Pista ng Kulay (Feast of Colors: Culture and Unity),” the FilArts participating artists include – Art Zamora, Rene V. Canlas, Roy Espinosa, Bonnie Jimenez, Maryrose Gisbert, Oying Madrilejos, and Khristina Manansala.

The representative works celebrate various aspects of and approaches to color in art.

FilArts aims to share with a wider audience Philippine culture through the artworks of its different members and to further elevate and propagate a stronger sense of awareness of Philippine artistic output among a global audience.

In her remarks at the opening of the exhibit, Consul General and Philippine Center Management Board Vice Chair Theresa Dizon-De Vega welcomed the artists to the Center stating that one of its goals is to promote Philippine arts and culture.

While congratulating all the participating artists, she likewise noted the presence of two women artists which is very appropriate for the celebration of International Women’s month.

Consul Arman Talbo who also serves as Manager of the Philippine Center also conveyed to the artists the Center’s honor for being chosen as their exhibition venue.

Other special guests at the event, Lawyer Peter Manning from California and Ms. Becky Villegas, Proprietor of the popular Manila pastry outfit “Becky’s Kitchen” joined the ribbon-cutting ceremony to formally open the exhibit.

Members of the public are invited to view the exhibit Mondays through Fridays from 9 am to 5 pm. END
