LA sister cities plaza 1

10 March 2017 LOS ANGELES - Consul General Adelio Angelito Cruz represented the Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles during the opening ceremony of the Los Angeles Sister Cities Plaza in San Pedro, California on February 28.

Makati and Los Angeles have been sister cities since January 28, 1992.

The construction of the Sister Cities Plaza was spearheaded by Los Angeles 15th District Councilmember Joe Buscaino as a monument to all of Los Angeles’ Sister Cities.  The plaza also symbolizes San Pedro’s role as LA County’s gateway to the world.

The new Los Angeles Sister City Plaza is a 1.68-acre green space.  It is the 38th park to be opened in the city’s 50 Park Initiative.  The initiative is a pledge to bring more open space to the park-poor areas of Los Angeles.  END
