06 November 2013 - The Philippine Consulate General donated books on Philippine economy, history, arts and culture to the Southeast Asia Research Centre (SEARC) of the City University of Hong Kong (CityU) on October 30.

The books were turned over by Vice Consul Fatima Guzman to Professor Mark Thompson, SEARC Director and Professor of Politics at the CityU’s Department of Asian and International Studies (AIS).

Ms. Irene Chan Fung Sinn of the SEARC Secretariat also provided Ms. Guzman with a tour of the SEARC facilities. 

SEARC hopes to create a Philippine collection at the Centre to enable CityU students to access more literature on the Philippines, and to conduct more collaborative activities with the Consulate such as roundtable discussions on Philippine politics and cultural events such as the Southeast Asia Cultural Festival held at CityU in April 2013.  END
