06 November 2013 - The Asian Ethnic Cultural Performances 2013, organized by the Hong Kong Leisure and Cultural Services Department, was held on October 27 at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza. The event was participated in by 12 countries namely, the Philippines, Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Turkey, as well as Macau SAR.
The Philippines performed a medley of ethnic Philippine dances from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. Filipino community organizations Mindanao Alliance, Kabisig Society, Visayas Alliance and Abante Cagayanos, which all are members of the Philippine Alliance-Hong Kong, represented the Philippines in the event.
The Philippine booth was full of visitors, especially children, who were taught how to make Philippine accessories.
Initiated in 2010, the Asian Ethnic Cultural Performances aims to promote cultural exchange by showcasing traditional ethnic music and dance performances by Asians residing in Hong Kong. END
