21 March 2017 – Filipino author Candy Quimpo-Gourlay was among the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature featured authors during it International Women’s Day session entitled “Be Bold for Change” at the Intercontinental Dubai Festival City, Dubai on March 11.

“Being bold means I can make a life somewhere. Boldness is endurance, survival, perseverance,” Ms. Gourlay said.

Ms. Gourlay sat alongside other international authors such as Ms. Noura Al Noman, Mr. Kei Miller, and Ms. Jo Malone.

Ms. Gourlay shared her experiences as a Filipina writer based in London and her passion in writing Filipino characters in her books.

“Write who you are so people can hear your heartbeat,” she advised aspiring writers.

Third Secretary and Vice Consul Rowena Pangilinan-Daquipil and Attaché Meradel April E. Reyes represented the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi during the event. END
