21 March 2017 JAKARTA — Philippine Ambassador to Indonesia Maria Lumen B. Isleta discussed the important role that women play in society and the influential role of Filipino women in mainstreaming gender and development in government during the Coffee Morning: “Harana, Filipino Love Songs and Crafts” at Balay Pilipino (Official Residence) on March 15.
The event paid tribute to women’s contributions in government and society through the Philippine “harana” tradition. The event took place on the occasion of National Women’s Month.
Filipino band, “Aksento” serenaded some 75 guests with a selection of Philippine love songs ranging from “kundimans” to contemporary OPM. Filipino crafts (Barong, Barong Batik, bags, pearl, dried mangoes, etc.) were available at the mini bazaar on the sidelines of the event while a mini fashion show of Barong Batik by members of Filipino community was featured.
