24 March 2017 LISBON — The ASEAN Committee Lisbon Portugal (ACLP) and the Community of Portuguese Language-Speaking Countries (CPLP) discussed possible opportunities for closer engagement among its member states during the ACLP’s call on CPLP Executive Secretary Ambassador Maria do Carmo Silveira on March 13.

ACLP Chair Ambassador Mulya Wirana of Indonesia, Chargé d’Affaires,a.i. Evelyn D. Austria-Garcia of the Philippine Embassy in Lisbon, and First Secretary Suchitra Muangnil of the Embassy of Thailand formally introduced ACLP to Ambassador Silveira.

Both sides discussed the economic opportunities and possible technical cooperation in education, tourism, energy, food security, and the blue economy.

The CPLP is a multilateral forum created to deepen mutual friendship and cooperation among its member states composed of Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal, São Tomé e Príncipe, Timor-Leste and Equatorial Guinea. END
