28 March 2017 LOS ANGELES — Philippine Consul General to Los Angeles Adelio Angelito S. Cruz attended the 75th Anniversary of the World War II and the Congressional Gold Medal Commemoration Gala in El Paso, Texas on March 18, organized by The Filipino Veterans Recognition and Education Project (FilVet). 

Consul General Cruz honored Filipino WW II veterans for their valor and sacrifice, which paved the way for the Liberation of Manila in 1945.

During the event, FilVet Chairman and Retired U.S. Army Major General Antonio Taguba also lauded the signing of the Filipino Veterans of World War II Congressional Gold Medal Act of 2015, signed into law on 14 December 2017, which awarded 260,000 Filipino and Filipino-American World War II veterans a collective Congressional Gold Medal, the United States’ highest civilian honor.
