28 March 2017 TORONTO — The Philippine Consulate General in Toronto hosted a seminar for its personnel entitled “Modern Day Slavery: Human Trafficking and People Smuggling” at the chancery on March 16.

Mr. Francisco Noel Fernandez III, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Philippine Embassy in Ottawa shared some tips on how to spot illegal trafficking.

Mr. Fernandez discussed the importance of being sensitive to the needs of fellow Filipinos.

Consul General Prospero encouraged the officers and staff to stay vigilant in observing possible victims of illegal trafficking and people smuggling.

The Consul General also assured that staff that regular skills upgrade training will be conducted in order to provide better service to the public. END
