Anak TV Undertakes a Working Visit to Laos

31 March 2017 VIENTIANE — Ms. Elvira Go, President of Anak TV, Inc, led a delegation to a working visit to Laos on March 24 to promote the inaugural Southeast Asian Prix Jeunesse 2017, a film festival for the ASEAN youth proposed to be held in November 2017 in Manila.

The delegation met with Mr. Vithoune Sundara, Director General of the Lao Department of Cinema, and discussed the possible participation of Laos in the film festival. Mr. Vithoune welcomed the idea for the proposed film festival and agreed for the Lao Department of Cinema to serve as the National Secretariat of the SEAPJ for Laos, the governing board which would screen all entries from Laos to the festival. Ms. Go and Mr. Vithoune also touched on other areas for cooperation and agreed to explore opportunities and funding for these cooperation projects.

Ms. Go also met with Mr. Sean Brown, President of the Asha Foundation, a non-profit organization based in Laos, Ms. Tintin Boswell, Coordinator of the American Center of the US Embassy in Vientiane, and Ms. Adena Mahavong, President of MV Lao HD TV, to explore partnerships in film development in Laos, especially among the youth. Mr. Brown, Ms. Boswell, and Ms. Adena expressed interest in training programs, seminars, and workshops which Anak TV can offer to the Lao youth and agreed to pursue the matter further once they have received specific project proposals from Anak TV and when funding sources for these projects are identified.
