PHL Consulate General in Guangzhou Celebrates 20th Anniversary with the Filipino Community

31 March 2017 GUANGZHOU – In celebration of the 20th anniversary of its founding, the Philippine Consulate General in Guangzhou organized a series of activities for the Filipino community in its jurisdiction, from March 18 to 25.

The Consulate General conducted a mobile consular outreach to the Filipino community in Sanya City, Hainan Province.

Health Talks. Dr. Allyn Rose Zamora delivered a talk on “Total Women’s Healthcare.”
The Consulate General hosted two health talks for women members of the Filipino community to mark Women’s Month. The two Filipino doctors, practicing at the United Family Guangzhou Clinic, shared their time and expertise for free with the Filipino community.
Blessing of Premises. PCG officers and staff were joined by Father John Peng, a local Catholic priest, who conducted the blessing.
The Consulate General of the Republic of the Philippines in Guangzhou was established on March 23, 1997, headed by then-Consul General and now retired Ambassador Luis T. Cruz. The opening of the Consulate General was in fulfillment of an agreement entered into by the Philippines and China in November 1996, during the state visit to the Philippines of former Chinese President Jiang Zemin. The Philippines was the 11th country to open a consulate general in Guangzhou. There are now 57 consulates general in Guangzhou. END
