06 April 2017 — The Philippine Embassy in Kuala Lumpur inaugurated on April 03 a newly-built surau (Muslim prayer room) in the embassy grounds for its Muslim personnel and guests. The event was graced by the Chairman of Malaysia’s official news agency, Bernama, Datuk Seri Azman Ujang.
“The construction of the surau is in line with the Embassy’s efforts to address the needs of its employees and promote inclusiveness and understanding among followers of different faiths,” Ambassador J. Eduardo Malaya said of his last act as he concludes his five-and-a-half-year diplomatic assignment.
Embassy Attaché Shamina Saidamen, Attaché Mustapha Lucman and the Union of Muslim Filipinos in Malaysia (UMFM) officers led the project’s implementation, under the guidance of the Embassy. END
