PHL Embassy Officials Join Russians in Mourning Victims of St. Petersburg Bombing

10 April 2017 MOSCOW — Philippine Embassy officials in Moscow on April 06 joined the Russian people in mourning the victims of the St. Petersburg bombing by offering flowers at the memorial marker representing Leningrad (St. Petersburg) along the Kremlin wall. Over 50,000 people gathered on Moscow’s Manezhnaya Square, near the Leningrad marker, to honor the victims of this tragic event.
“We join the Russian people in honoring the memory of the victims and in expressing the hope that the perpetrators of this condemnable act are brought to justice,” Ambassador Sorreta said after visiting the memorial.
The Philippine Embassy is in close coordination with Russian authorities, the Filipino Community, and Philippine Honorary Consulate General in St. Petersburg.
The Philippine Embassy confirmed that no Filipino was killed nor injured in the explosion and thanks EMERCOM (Ministry of the Russian Federation for Civil Defence, Emergencies and Elimination of Consequences of Natural Disasters), the Investigative Committee and other officials of Russia for their cooperation.
President Vladimir Putin declared three days of national mourning following the bombing on April 03 in St. Petersburg which killed 14 people and wounded 50. END
