06 April 2017 – The Philippine Ambassador Antonio A. Morales and Commercial Counsellor Glenn G. Penaranda spoke before the ASEAN Committee of the Singapore International Chamber of Commerce (SICC) last 06 March to brief them on PH’s Chairmanship of the ASEAN this year and encouraged Singaporean investors to explore the PH market.
Ambassador Morales touched on the theme for this year’s ASEAN - “Partnering for Change, Engaging the World” – and the thematic priorities of PH’s chairmanship.
“We hope that our chairmanship of the ASEAN will also put the Philippines in a more positive light for investors, like SICC, to be encouraged in exploring the Philippine market. I welcome therefore the members of SICC to visit us in the Philippines and take part in our many economic activities for ASEAN. I further hope that the impression will be positive enough to make you want to establish permanent business relations with our country,” Ambassador Morales said.
Commercial Counsellor Penaranda, meanwhile, focused on the priorities and major business activities of the ASEAN 2017 Business & Investment Program (ABIP). He also provided updates on developments in the PH economy, including foreign investments and industry priorities.
Among the companies that were represented during the forum were PriceWaterhouseCoopers LLP, Indo Straits Trading, James Cook University and Sembcorp Parks Management Pte Ltd.
SICC, which celebrated its 180th anniversary last 08 February, is the first business chamber in Singapore. END
