11 April 2017 TEHRAN, IRAN — The Philippine Embassy in Tehran, on April 8, hosted Hon. Rufus B. Rodriguez’ meeting with the Filipino community in Iran.
The meeting was an opportunity for Congressman Rodriguez to provide insights on current events in the Philippines and Congressman Rodriguez discussed the recent laws and regulations beneficial to overseas Filipinos like the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA) - the tax-exempt value of items sent by overseas Filipinos would be increased from the present P10,000 to P150,000; Customs Memorandum Order 27-2015 – OFW Balikbayan boxes will no longer be subjected to random or arbitrary physical inspection, except for those which are alerted; One-Stop Shops open in POEA Building and in Clark Freeport Zone; Stoppage of collecting travel tax and terminal fees from OFWs; and Landban acquiring Postbank in line with President Rodrigo R. Duterte’s promise to have a bank serving OFWs. END
