19th ASEAN-India Senior Officials’ Meeting
Takes Place in New Delhi
The Ten ASEAN Countries SOM Leaders and India SOM Leader during the 19th ASEAN-India Senior Officials’ Meeting
12 April 2017 – The Philippines ASEAN Assistant Secretary/SOM Leader Maria Hellen B. de la Vega along with the ASEAN member countries SOM Leaders and India SOM Leader participated during the 19th ASEAN-India Senior Officials’ Meeting in New Delhi on April 06.
The 19th AISOM discussed developments in ASEAN and India. The Philippines as chairman of ASEAN, expounding on the six thematic priorities of its chairmanship of ASEAN in 2017. The Philippine ASEAN chairmanship coincides with the 50th Anniversary of ASEAN in 2017.
The meeting presented the outcome of the 14th ASEAN-India Summit held in Lao PDR on 08 September 2016 as well as the progress report of the implementation of the ASEAN-India Plan of Action 2016-2020, including the List of Prioritized Areas during 2016 to 2020. The meeting also reviewed the ASEAN-India cooperation over the previous years, touched on future directions for ASEAN-India cooperation and exchanged views on Regional and International Issues. In addition, the meeting reviewed the list of joint activities to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of ASEAN-India Dialogue Relations in 2017, including holding the Commemorative Summit to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of ASEAN-India Dialogue Relations in January 2018.
The meeting was co-chaired by H.E. Nguyen Quoc Dzung, Vice Foreign Minister of Viet Nam’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs/Viet Nam’s SOM Leader, and H.E. Preeti Saran, Secretary (East) of India’s Ministry of External Affairs/India’s SOM Leader. END
