32 Filipino Fishermen Repatriated

19 April 2017 MANADO, INDONESIA — The Philippine Consulate General in Manado repatriated a group of 32 Filipino fishermen on April 06.
Head of the Immigration Detention House of Manado Mr. Hasrullah informed Consul General Orcine that the Immigration Detention Center will repatriate another group of 22 Filipinos on the first week of May.
The Indonesian Government has been strictly implementing its anti-illegal fishing policy after the creation of Indonesia’s Anti-Illegal Fishing Task Force (SATGAS 115) on October 21, 2015.
To address the increasing number of apprehended Philippine-registered fishing boats and Filipino fishermen, the Consulate General has recommended the conduct of a massive information campaign calling all fishing boat owners to discontinue the dispatch of fishing vessels crossing into Indonesian waters.
Since January 2017, the Consulate General in Manado has repatriated a total of 217 Filipino fishermen apprehended in Indonesia. END
