04 April 2017 HONG KONG — The Philippines’ newest a cappella sensation, Acapellago, wowed audiences all over Hong Kong during the 2017 Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups (HKFYG) Jockey Club Hong Kong International a cappella Festival held from March 17 to April 02.
Acapellago is composed of soprano Michelle Pascual, counter tenor Almond Bolante, tenor Joshua Cadelinia, bass Ronnel Laderas, and beatbox expert Ricky Laderas. The group was featured with other a cappella groups from Hong Kong, Australia, Finland, and the United Kingdom during the festival.
Aside from performances, Acapellago also conducted workshops in various educational institutions in the Territory. During their courtesy call on the Philippine Consulate General on March 30, they led the singing of the Philippine national anthem and performed their hit renditions of popular Filipino pop songs Kahit Maputi na ang Buhok Ko and Tatlong Bibe.
Acapellago was the 2013 and 2015 champion at the Akapela Open by Philippine composer Ryan Cayabyab, and Gold Award Grand Champion at the A Cappella Championship 2015 in Singapore.
The 2017 HKFYG Jockey Club Hong Kong International a cappella Festival is now on its 7th year and has featured, for the first time, international a cappella groups. END
