PHL Consulate General, Filipino Ladies of Dubai Host the “Pintados” Art Exhibit

03 May 2017 DUBAI — Philippine Consulate General in Dubai and the Filipino Ladies in Dubai held the Opening of Susan Villanueva de Guzman’s “Pintados” at the Philippine Consulate General on April 26.

The exhibit was a tribute to Whang Od, the tattoo artist in the Kalingas, whose works of art de Guzman used as inspiration. Around 250 people - art critics from Art Dubai, Dubai’s major dailies, the media, art students of the Higher Colleges of Technology, Sharjah Women's College applauded the 16-piece collection.

Joining the show were Sindaw Philippines and the Rene Salud Fashion Collection who wowed the audience with the collection of Salud’s Cordillera and Maranao tapestry and textile. Also part of the event was Neil Llanes, a beat boxing finalist at Asia’s Got Talent and Ms. Eyzell Salinel, Dubai, Dubai Musikahan 2016 Grand Champion.

Consul General Cortes reiterated his vision for the Philippine Consulate General to be the repository of the works of art of all Filipino talents in Dubai and the Northern Emirates and commended the Filipino ladies in Dubai for its efforts to assist in leading the cultural program of the Consulate.
