PHL Embassy Official, Iraqi Business Executive Discuss Possible Joint Business Ventures

The Philippine Embassy in Baghdad recently received Sheikh Abbas Jasim Al-Shamary, Chairman of Al-Faidh Holdings, one of the leading conglomerates in Iraq with interests in petroleum, energy, banking, construction and trading. During his call, Sheikh Abbas told Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Elmer G. Cato that he would like to explore possible joint ventures with companies in the Philippines that would want to build oil refineries and power plants in Iraq. Sheikh Abbas, who has interests in Jordan, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates, said he is also interested in looking into business opportunities in the Philippines.
