13 November 2013 – Over a dozen participants in the first edition of the Batang Idol 2013 search charmed Embassy personnel when they sang Filipino Christmas carols.

“It is always moving to hear Filipino Christmas carols when one is away from the Philippines,” said Third Secretary and Vice Consul Rapunzel Acop. “It is also cute to hear them sing in Filipino since most of them speak it with a French accent,” she added.

Aged six to 17 years old, the children are part of a talent search organized by Filinvest France in order to encourage Filipino children in France to showcase their talents. The preliminary rounds will take place on October 27 and November 9. The finals will take place on November 16 with the winner bringing home a cash prize of EUR 500.00 and a trophy. The first and second runners-up will each be bringing home EUR 300.00 and EUR 100.00 and trophies. END
