13 November 2013 - A group of Philippine companies representing exporters in the sectors of food and cosmetics production were on a tour of Riyadh, the Eastern Region and Jeddah during which the companies held meetings with prospective importers and called on officials of the chambers of commerce.
On October 31, Philippine Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Ezzedin Tago joined the head of the group, Mrs. Imelda Madarang during a courtesy call on the Secretary General of the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI), Mr. Mohammed Al-Khathiri in Riyadh. RCCI reiterated support to activities that improve trade and investment relations between the two countries, in addition to joint ventures in various sectors. Commercial Counselor Paisal Abdullah, who is based in Dubai, was present during the meeting.
After the meeting with the RCCI Secretary General, Ambassador Tago visited the Philippine food exporters who were at Riyadh Palace Hotel in business to business meetings with Saudi companies who are existing or potential importers. In addition to exporters of food products, there were also several exporters of herbal medicines and cosmetics.
The Philippine food producers also visited Lulu Hypermarket in Riyadh and received a briefing from the Lulu Hypermarket administration and executives.
On November 1, the Philippine business mission went to the Eastern Region. Third Secretary and Consul Ma. Angelica Genotiva from the Embassy represented Ambassador Ezzedin Tago during a courtesy call on Mr. Abdul Rahman Al-Wabel, the Secretary General of the Eastern Region Asharqia Chjamber of Commerce and Industry.
More importantly, the Philippine business delegation held a modest exhibit of food and cosmetic products, and received inquiries from Saudi companies during the exhibit.
The business mission left Dammam for Jeddah where they undertook similar activities with the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry. END
