1st Indonesia-Philippines Cultural Friendship Day Celebrates the Best of the Two Countries’ Cultures

16 May 2017 SAN FRANCISCO — The 1st Philippines-Indonesia Cultural Friendship Day in San Francisco was on May 07 at the Official Residence of Indonesia. The event forms part of the Philippine Consulate General’s activities in celebration of the 50th Anniversary of ASEAN. Led by Mrs. Bensurto, the ladies of the Philippine Consulate General and the Filipino-American Community showcased Filipino culture at its finest, featuring colorful national costumes and textiles, music and dances, and cuisine.
The Barangay, Kariktan and Parangal Dance Companies and Jay Loyola Dance performed Mindanaoan dances accompanied by instrumentalists who played the kulintang, while the Indonesian ladies serenaded their guests with songs by their ang klung ensemble.
The program was followed by a buffet lunch featuring Philippine and Indonesian cuisine. END
