17 May 2017 NEW YORK — Reynaldo Cardenas, Administrative Officer of the Philippine Consulate General in New York, held his 2nd one-man exhibit at the Lobby-Gallery of the Philippine Center in New York on May 11.

The exhibit dubbed “Bagong Landas” presents 17 new works by Cardenas who has been involved in painting for the last seven years. Mr. Cardenas’ first solo exhibit at the Philippine Center took place in 2016.

Mr. Cardenas’ works explore the impressions made by the diverse places he has visited in connection with his work in the Philippine Foreign Service. Approaching retirement from government service in June of 2017, the latest exhibit also provides some ideas about the future artistic direction of Mr. Cardenas.

Mr. Cardenas is part of an informal group of artists from among staff members of the Philippine Consulate General in New York who have been studying various artistic mediums. He also currently serves as Vice President of the Society of Philippine American Artists (SPAA).

On hand at the exhibit’s opening were Philippine Permanent Representative to the United Nations Teodoro L. Locsin, Jr. and Mrs. Louie Locsin, Consul General Theresa Dizon-De Vega, Philippine Center Manager Arman R. Talbo, officers and staff of the Philippine Consulate General, Philippine Mission, Philippine Center, New York-based artists, community members, family, and friends of the artist.

The exhibit is being presented by the Philippine Consulate General, Philippine Center in New York, and the SPAA. The exhibit takes place during Philippine Heritage Month and Asian-American Heritage Month.
