The Philippines was among 15 featured countries in the event with the Embassy setting up a tourism and cultural promotions booth to provide various information materials on the Philippines and showcase quality Philippine handicraft and cultural items.

The booth was well-received by visitors and event organizers. The celebration was capped with an entertaining performance of Filipino folk dances by the youngest members of the Philippine Dance Troupe of Ottawa.

Canada celebrates Asian Heritage Month each May to celebrate the contribution of Canadians of Asian origin to Canada. According to latest Canadian immigration statistics, Filipinos comprise the largest group of immigrants to Canada in recent years.
