PHL Consulate General Features Works of Filipino Visual Artist During National Heritage Month

In celebration of National Heritage Month, an ongoing exhibit of mixed media artworks by renowned Filipino visual artist Manuel Baldemor are currently on display at the Philippine Consulate General reception area for the appreciation of visitors and members of the Filipino community in Vancouver.

24 May 2017 VANCOUVER — The Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver joins the Filipino community in its observance of National Heritage Month with the holding of a month-long exhibit of mixed media artworks of renowned Filipino visual artist Manuel Baldemor at the reception area of the Consulate General. 

The theme of the artworks of Mr. Baldemor, “Celebration of Filipino Heritage,” coincides with the 2017 theme for National Heritage Month, “Malasakit para sa Pamana” (Care for Heritage). The paintings depict scenes from traditional Filipino events such as Maytime festivals, harana or serenade, sabungan or cockfighting, among others.

The Consulate General also extends its support to Filipino-Canadian artists, namely, Grace Cuenca, Chito Maravilla and Niel McLaren, whose works were selected for the Generation One Art Exhibition at the Vancouver Lipont Art Centre.  The exhibit is being held in celebration of Asian Heritage Month in Vancouver and will run until June 04.
