Zambian employers expressed how highly they value the services of their Filipino employees and their intent in securing their services as long as possible.
The Ambassador Angeles visited the premises of Yoyo Foods, Zambia’s biggest snack food manufacturer. Many Filipino workers in Yoyo Foods have been with the company since its inception and had contributed hugely to the development of the brand not only in Zambia but in central and southern Africa.
Aside from Yoyo Foods, Ambassador Angeles also visited Fairview Hospital, home to some Filipino nurses and doctors and Sandy’s Creations Resort, a luxury lodge which employs Filipino chefs.
From May 10 to 12, the Embassy am visited Vhembe in South Africa’s Limpopo province where they visited a Filipino owned garments factory, Christal Enterprises, and attended the inauguration of Style Guest House.
Ambassador Angeles was warmly welcomed by Mrs. Edith Pengson, owner of both Christal Enterprises and the newly-opened Style Guest House. Ambassador Angeles was also able to meet with a number of officials from the municipality of Vhembe and discussed possible economic potentials in the area. To round up the official visit, the Embassy team ensured that consular services, such as passporting, reporting of vital events and counselling on consular-related inquiries, had been extended to Filipinos around the area.
