PH Consul General in New York Meets U.S. Congresswoman Kathleen Rice

08 June 2017 NEW YORK - Philippine Consul General in New York Ma. Theresa Dizon B. de Vega met with US Congresswoman Kathleen Rice (D) of the 4th District of New York at her district office in Garden City, Nassau County, New York.
During the meeting, the Consul General de Vega noted the strong and long-standing relations between the Philippines and the US. They discussed the membership of Congresswoman Rice in the PH-US Friendship Caucus in the US Congress. Congresswoman Rice expressed eagerness to become more actively involved in the caucus.
Consul General de Vega also informed Congresswoman Rice on the current issues closely monitored by the Fil-Am community like immigration, healthcare, and education matters. She thanked Congresswoman Rice for the passage of the Congressional Gold Medal Bill for Filipino WWII veterans.
Congresswoman Rice expressed interest in visiting the Philippines in the future by joining the Ambassador's Tour organized by the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Department of Tourism, or as part of a US Congressional delegation.
They were joined at the meeting by the Consulate’s Political Officer Consul Arman R. Talbo. END
