Honolulu  Veterans Day15 November 2013 - On the occasion of U.S. Veterans Day Philippine Consul General Julius D. Torres attended the celebration of The Oahu Veterans Council and Center, the Honolulu Veterans Administration Regional Office and the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific  95th annual commemoration on November 11, at 10:00 a.m. at the Punchbowl, Honolulu, Hawaii.

General Vincent Brooks, Commanding General of the U.S. Army Pacific was the Distinguished Speaker while Honorable Tulsi Gabbard, U.S. Congresswoman from Hawaii delivered the Keynote Message.


The Consul General also offered a memorial wreath during the ceremony.

After the ceremony, General Vincent Brooks and Lt. Gen. Thomas Conant, Deputy Commander of the U.S. Pacific Command conveyed their condolences to the Consul General and promised to help the victims of typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) in the Philippines in any way they can. The members of the Consular Corps also expressed sympathy to the victims of the typhoon.

Consul General Torres also attended the 2013 Governor’s Veterans Day Ceremony on November 11, at 1 pm at the Memorial Plaza, Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery. Consul General Torres, together with the members of the Consular Corps offered floral   leis during the ceremony.

The Veterans Day Commemoration is honoring those who served during the two World Wars, the Korean War, Vietnam War, Cold War, Gulf Wars, Afghanistan and the Global War on Terrorism. END
