Pretoria  Anniversary celebration of SA National Library1

18 November 2013- Philippine Ambassador to South Africa Constancio R. Vingno, Jr. and his wife, Madame Yoko Ramos-Vingno, attended the 14th anniversary celebration of the National Library of South Africa (NLSA) on November 01.

The National Library of South Africa was established in 1999, through the National Library of South Africa Act of 1998.  The institution was formed through amalgamation of the State Library in Pretoria and the South African Library in Cape Town which were established in 1887 and 1818 respectively, to include a specialized unit called the Centre for the Book.

The Philippine Embassy has donated Philippine books to NLSA as well as a painting of the Filipino artist, Mr. Rico M. Tompong. NLSA has likewise been  the venue of launchings of Philippine art exhibits and screening of Philippine movies. END
