20 June 2017 – Philippine Airlines (PAL), the country’s flag carrier, returns to Malaysian skies as it resumes its Manila-Kuala Lumpur service with its inaugural flight touching down at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on June 08.

Philippine Ambassador to Malaysia Charles C. Jose was on hand to welcome the passengers aboard the inaugural flight, together with Tourism Malaysia Director General Datuk Seri Mirza Mohamamad Taiyab, and officials from PAL and Malaysia Airports Berhad.

The inaugural flight was welcomed by the traditional water salute, and its passengers were given tokens as they disembarked from the aircraft.  The return flight to Manila also included a delegation of travel agents and media for a familiarization tour of the Philippines.

“Filipinos and Malaysians have natural affinities with one another. Apart from being next door neighbors and close partners in ASEAN, similarities in terms of climate, culture and way of life binds us.  We share many loves, and among them is our love for travel and adventure.  With PAL’s extensive domestic and international network, this new route not only addresses the direct connection between our capital cities, but it also allows travelers seamless connection to other local destinations in the Philippines as well as to onward international destinations, which we believe will lead to increased tourism numbers,” Ambassador Jose said in his remarks.

“I hope that with PAL expanding its international reach to include Kuala Lumpur, we can encourage more tourists to visit the Philippines and be enchanted by the warmth and hospitality of the Filipino,” he added.
