Award-Winning Documentary “Fields of Hope” Screened at Phl Consulate General in San Francisco
22 June 2017 SAN FRANCISCO — The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco, in partnership with the Philippine American Writers and Artists, presented the award-winning documentary “Fields of Hope” at a screening held at the Philippine Folklife Museum on June 09.
"Fields of Hope" follows the journey of three boys from Tacloban after Typhoon Haiyan struck the City. Through the Remedios Trinidad Romualdez (RTR) Foundation, the children were able to deal with the trauma of the Typhoon, teaching them discipline, teamwork and leadership through football.
Consul General Henry S. Bensurto, Jr. thanked Mr. Troy Bernardo, the Director and Writer, for showing his documentary, especially since the Filipino-Americans of the Bay Area were active in raising funds for the Typhoon victims. He mentioned that the documentary was a means to Spark*Connect*Empower* the Filipino Community, strengthening relations between Filipinos based abroad and in the Homeland.
