PHL Consulate General in Dubai, Filipino Ladies of Dubai Honor Ulirang Ama Awardees

23 June 2017 DUBAI — The Philippine Consulate General in Dubai and the Filipino Ladies of Dubai honored ten overseas Filipino fathers in celebration of Father's Day 2017. On June 16, Filipino dads were presented the Ulirang Ama Award for their dedication to fatherhood despite their distance from their families staying in the Philippines.

The ten awardees were Albert G. Orpilla; Eduardo Francisco; Edward Licas; Ronald Bucad; Elmar Salveron; Danilo Borres; Julito Bungcasan Jr.; Ranniel Aromin; Eduardo De la Paz; and Ferdinan Santos, who all received a free haircut session, photo shoot, blood pressure check-up, fitness training, and video messages from their families based in the Philippines.

This is the first time the Ulirang Ama Award was given to overseas Filipinos. Dr. Yasmin Cortes said that this simple ceremony allows overseas Filipinos to feel that society understands and respects their roles as providers and that the Consulate and Filipino Ladies of Dubai hope they would feel more appreciated not only by their families but also by the overseas Filipino community in Dubai and the Northern Emirates.
