28 June 2017 — On 17 June 2017, at the Waisenhausplatz in the center of the Swiss capital Berne, Filipino-Swiss youth performed at the Philippine Fiesta to celebrate the 119th anniversary of Philippine Independence and the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations with Switzerlnad.

The whole day Fiesta, attended by about 10,000 people, became alive with performances from the Filipino talents playing Philippine, Swiss and other pop and party music.

Heeding the call of Ambassador Joselito A. Jimeno that young Filipinos in Switzerland continue to be proud of their heritage through endeavors that highlight Philippine culture, values, and history, the Fiesta’s program brought together Filipino-Swiss young performers across Switzerland and Europe to showcase their talent in music, dance and even martial arts.

The Philippine Fiesta was the first of its kind held in Switzerland. It was conceptualized by the Philippine Embassy with the support of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), as a way to help promote the best of the Philippines and the Filipinos to the general public of Switzerland and Liechtenstein.
