Fil-Am Tony and Grammy Winner, Filipino Food Advocate Featured at Heroes 2.0 Speakers’ Forum Launch

22 June 2017 SAN FRANCISCO — The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco launched its Bayani 2.0 Speakers’ Forum Series at the Philippine Center’s Folklife Museum on May 26 which featured two Filipino American Youth Leadership Program (FYLPRO) Alumni - Jhett Tolentino, a Tony and Grammy Award Winning Filipino-American producer, and Joanne Boston, the Vice President of the Filipino Food Movement.

Both speakers recounted their journeys toward fulfilling their passions in promoting art through musicals and promoting Filipino cuisine and how being Filipino was central to their success.

As a producer, Jhett’s passion is in the entertainment industry. During his FYLPRO Immersion, he represented Filipino actors’ equity, raising the issue of tax filing before members of the Philippine Senate. He is currently producing “Here Lies Love” in Seattle as part of his legacy project for FYLPRO.

Joanne’s passion is to educate the world about Filipino food and provide support to Filipino chefs and restaurateurs, who are raising the profile of Filipino cuisine.

Joanne and Jhett promoted FLYPROand encouraged millennials to apply for the 2017 Immersion Program scheduled this October.
