29 June 2017 – More than a hundred Filipinos in High River, Alberta and other surrounding areas availed of the consular services extended by the Philippine Consulate General in Calgary on June 25.
These services ranged from passport processing to notarial services.
The consular outreach team led by Consul General Julius D. Torres rendered a total of 122 consular services during the said consular mission. The team was assisted by the Filipino Canadian High River Association.
Most of the Filipinos in High River and its nearby areas work at Cargill Foods, one of Canada’s largest livestock processing companies. Of the company’s 2,500 workers, 75% are Filipino temporary foreign workers and permanent residents.
The outreach mission specifically caters to the Filipinos in the area who are unable to travel to Calgary on weekdays because they only have Sundays as their day off.
