03 July 2017 MADRID — Philippine Ambassador to Spain Philippe J. Lhuillier highlighted the Philippines’ potential as a trading partner, business hub, and investment center during the ASEAN Business Forum at the Confederacion Española de Organizaciones Empresariales (CEOE) Headquarters in Madrid on June 28.

The Ambassador discussed President Duterte’s 10-point Socio-Economic Agenda focused on infrastructure development.  He also discussed the high-impact projects geared towards boosting economic growth in the Philippines.

The forum on “Trade and Investment Opportunities in ASEAN” was jointly organized by the ASEAN Member States represented in Madrid and the CEOE on the occasion of ASEAN’s 50th year and the 40th anniversary of ASEAN-EU ties.

Ms. Maria Aparici, Deputy Director General for Trade Policy of the Spanish Ministry of Commerce, and CEOE Vice Chairman Mr. Jose Vicente Gonzalez, emphasized ASEAN’s value to the Spanish business community.  According to them, ASEAN is an important market to the Spanish business community because of the size of ASEAN’s population, its strategic location, and its economic development.

Meetings with interested investors were held separately on the sidelines of the forum.  At least five Spanish businesses were interested to do business with the Philippines.
