PH Re-Elected as Member of the IOC Executive Council

03 June 2017 PARIS — The Philippines was re-elected to the Executive Council of the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) during the 29th session of the IOC Assembly at the UNESCO Headquarters, Paris.
The Philippines will sit in IOC’s Executive Council from 2017 to 2019.
The IOC is an organization in the UN system geared towards promoting international cooperation in the Marine science.
The IOC Executive Council, composed of 40 Member States, holds two ordinary sessions during the two-year interval between ordinary sessions of the Assembly.
The Philippines’ active engagement with IOC will further strengthen the Philippines’ capacity in ocean science, tsunami early warning, and disaster risk reduction and management.
