Landbank, Phl Consulate General Discuss Financial Programs for OFWS

05 July 2017 VANCOUVER – Philippine Consul General in Vancouver Neil Frank R. Ferrer and representatives of Land Bank discussed possible financial literacy programs for overseas Filipinos and their families during the Land Bank representatives’ courtesy call to the Consul General last June 22.
One of the programs they discussed is the pilot run of the OFW Center and the inclusion of financial literacy sessions during the Post-Arrival Orientation Seminars of overseas Filipinos.
Land Bank First Vice President of the OFW Remittance Group (OFW-RG) Renato Eje said that LBP will extent financial literacy information to the families of OFWs in coordination with their respective local government units (LGUs).
Land Bank currently has programs with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), the Overseas Workers Welfare Association (OWWA), and the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) through the OFW Reintegration Program which provides financial assistance and business opportunities for OFWs.
Mr. Eje mentioned Land Bank’s acquisition of the Philippine Postal Savings Bank, which is eyed to cater to the needs of OFWs.
Consul General Ferrer welcomed LBP’s initiatives for overseas Filipinos.
