PH Ambassador to Mexico Welcomes Incoming Mexican Ambassador to PH

06 July 2017 –Philippine Ambassador to Mexico Eduardo Jose A. de Vega received incoming Mexican Ambassador to the Philippines Gerardo Lozano Arredondo during a recent courtesy call at the chancery.
The two envoys discussed matters of mutual interest, such as pending and existing bilateral agreements between Mexico and the Philippines.
Ambassador de Vega briefed Ambassador Lozano on recent events in the Philippines, and also described the country’s unique culture as well as its close historical links with Mexico.
Ambassador Lozano said that he intended to focus on economic and cultural diplomacy initiatives during his tenure, with a view to enhancing the growing trade and investment flows between both countries. He further indicated his desire to revive Philippines-Mexico technical and scientific cooperation, and added that he was looking forward his first Asian assignment in the Philippines.
Ambassador Lozano emphasized Mexico’s intention to have objective, realistic, and achievable goals in its engagement with the Philippines. An economist by training, he has been a member of the Mexican Foreign Service since 1981. He previously served as Ambassador to Jamaica and Saint Lucia and as Director-General of Technical and Scientific Cooperation in the Mexican Foreign Ministry.
He also served as chief of Economic Affairs at the Mexican Embassy in France, as the Alternate Representative of Mexico to the OECD, and was in charge of Economic and Multilateral Affairs at Mexico’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations.
