Philippine Ambassador to Cambodia, Christopher B. Montero delivers his lecture before students of the Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP).

03 August 2017, PHNOM PEHN— The Philippine Embassy in Cambodia continued its public diplomacy activities for the Philippines' Chairmanship of ASEAN in 2017 with a lecture-presentation at the Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP), acknowledged as Cambodia's top university, on July 28.

In his presentation entitled "PH Chairmanship of ASEAN @ 50," Philippine Ambassador Christopher B. Montero shared the thematic priorities of the Philippines' chairmanship, as well as the commemorative activities, both in the Philippines and Cambodia, for ASEAN's 50th milestone anniversary. The Ambassador also shared the results of the 30th ASEAN Summit held in Manila on April 30, and the expected outcomes of the next ASEAN Summit in November 2017.

RUPP's top management and faculty led by Dr. Oum Ravy, Vice Rector, and Dr. Neak Chandarith, Head of the Department of International Studies, and Dr. Roth Hok, Deputy Head of the Institute of Foreign Languages, were present during the lecture.

During the Open Forum, Ambassador Montero responded to questions pertaining to challenges faced by PH for its chairmanship, and prospects for ASEAN's success in the coming years.

Ambassador Montero also led a hand-over of more than sixty (60) Philippine books to the "Self-Access Center," the in-house library of the Institute of Foreign Languages of RUPP. The books are part of the collection of published materials from the University of the Philippines, De La Salle University, and the Philippine Institute of Development Studies.
