ASEAN Committee in Paris Envoys Meet French FM Jean-Yves Le Drian

08 August 2017 PARIS — The ASEAN Committee in Paris (ACP) exchanged views with French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian on August 04 at the Hotel du Ministre des affaires étrangères, Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs.

The ACP thanked Foreign Minister Le Drian for the meeting and expressed hope for continued closer cooperation between ASEAN and France.

Foreign Le Drian said that France attaches great importance to its long-standing relations with ASEAN and ASEAN member countries, especially during the 50th anniversary of its founding and the 40th anniversary of ASEAN-EU relations this year.  He also said that France is close to Asia because of its overseas territories in the Pacific and Indian oceans.

The ACP and Foreign Minister Le Drian exchanged views on issues of mutual concern, including security issues in region as well as strengthening economic and cultural cooperation.
