21 November 2013 – The Philippine Consulate General in Osaka conducted a consular outreach mission from November 16 to 17 in Kariya City, Aichi Prefecture through the cooperation of the Mikawa Block Filipino Catholic Communities (MBFCC) headed by their Coordinators, Mr. Alex Quema, and Fr. Frederic Lauricio, SVD. The outreach was held at the Kariya International Plaza.

The Consulate processed a total of 450 applications for consular services with 305 e-passport applications and 145 notarial, authentication, Report of Birth, and other miscellaneous services during the consular outreach.

It conducted consultations regarding marriage, judicial recognition of divorce, and other concerns of individual Filipino applicants on consular documents. Post also handled two (2) assistance-to-nationals cases during the outreach.

Kariya City is located in Aichi Prefecture which is home to about 26,000 Filipino nationals. Kariya is host to various automobile-related factories where many Filipinos are employed.

The consular outreach in Kariya is part of the Consulate’s program to reach out and bring its consular services to approximately 80,000 Filipino nationals under its jurisdiction. This is the eighth consular outreach conducted by the Consulate this year, which served over 2,400 applicants. Next year, the Consulate will conduct at least eight (8) mobile services for approximately 3,000 applicants. END
