MILAN

22 August 2017 MILAN — The Philippine Consulate General in Milan conducted its first-ever Security Seminar on August 10 with officers from 1 GANAP Guardians, a Filipino organization in Northern Italy, as resource speakers. The seminar was intended to increase the Consulate General’s awareness and understanding of security, its relevance, and practical application.

Consul General Marichu Mauro explained the importance of security in the work of diplomats and underscored the need for increased security awareness among foreign service personnel due to developments across Europe, including in Italy.

Resource speakers, Messrs. Democrito Bueno and Sandy Branzuela, both former members of the Philippine National Police, discussed physical and personal security, and provided practical examples on how to protect against theft, espionage, and terrorist attacks. They also discussed the various layers of security and how each layer could be defended against such attacks and intrusion.

The lecture was followed by an open forum to discuss security measures for certain types of situation.

The Consulate plans to conduct another security seminar for the larger Filipino Community to instill security consciousness among our kababayans in Milan and Northern Italy. END
