Consul General Calonge Meets with Congressman Bill Huizenga in Michigan
04 September 2017 — Philippine Consul General to Chicago and the Midwest Generoso D.G. Calonge met with U.S. Representative William “Bill” P. Huizenga at his district office in Grand Haven, Michigan on August 09.
Consul General Calonge informed him of the latest political and economic developments in the Philippines and assured him that the US-Philippines relations remain strong and steady. He invited Rep. Huizenga to join the US-Philippines Friendship Caucus to better address common concerns in the region and enhance the two countries’ longstanding ties, hoping that the legislator would visit the Philippines again soon as a member of the caucus.
Representing the Second Congressional District of Michigan, Rep. Huizenga warmly welcomed Consul General Calonge and DCG Romulo Victor Israel Jr., and shared with them his pleasant memories of his visits to the Philippines. He was with the American Council of Young Political Leaders when he first saw and admired the archipelagic country’s natural beauty.
