07 September 2017 NEW YORK – Filipino-American Children from ages three to 12 joined a story-telling session and sorbetes (ice cream) making demonstration as part of the Philippine Consulate General in New York’s commemoration of Buwan ng Wika 2017.

Dubbed “Kuwentong Pambata” (Children’s Story Time), the session held at the Philippine Center in New York featured a lesson in the Philippine language by Filipino-American Teacher Ramil Buenaventura. The featured book was “Sino po Sila? Sa Daanan” (Who are the People on Your Street) by Jomike Tejido.

The language and story-telling session was followed by a demonstration of sorbetes-making by acclaimed Filipino Chef Romy Dorotan of Purple Yam, New York. Mr. Dorotan showed the children how to make homemade mango ice cream.

The activity was held to further promote interest in the Filipino language among young Filipino-Americans and is support activity to the yearly Paaralan sa Konsulado activity held every summer.
