Almost 200 Pinoy Caregivers Take Teaching and Nursing Licensure Exams in Israel

Filipino overseas workers in Israel with degrees in education and nursing during the PRC-conducted licensure exams in Tel Aviv

11 September 2017 TEL-AVIV — Almost 200 caregivers took the Special Professional Licensure Examination (SPLE) for Teachers and Nurses from September 02 to 03 in Tel Aviv organized by the Philippine Embassy in coordination with the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).

A total of 85 Professional Teacher-applicants (37 Elementary and 48 Secondary) and 114 Nurse-applicants took the Licensure Examinations. The Professional Teachers Board Examination was held on 2 September 2017 while the Nursing Board Examination was held on 2-3 September 2017.

Tel Aviv, Israel was one of the Testing Centers in the Middle East Countries for the simultaneous conduct of the SPLE together with Al-Khobar, Jeddah, Riyadh of KSA; Doha, Qatar; Abu Dhabi, UAE; Al-Ahmadi, Kuwait and Muscat, Oman.

The licensure exam is in line with the Philippine Embassy’s reintegration program for Filipino overseas workers in Israel who are on five-year contracts as caregivers.

The SPLE hopes to provide opportunities for decent and sustainable work for returning Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in line with “Sa ‘Pinas Ikaw ang Ma’am at Sir” program of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

Philippine Ambassador to Israel Neal Imperial thanked Labor Attaché Rodolfo Gabasan and the team from PRC for conducting the exam. “The Labor Office and the PRC should be commended for regularly conducting licensure exams overseas as they give hope to our kababayans for a bright future upon their return to the Philippines,” the Ambassador said.

The results of the SPLE, according to PRC, will be released before the year ends.
