11 September 2017 PARIS — The Philippine Embassy in Paris conducted an orientation seminar for Filipino students and CHED K to 12 grantees on 8 September 2017.
The seminar was attended by Filipino students enrolled in various French universities such as Sciences Po, Université Catholique de Lille, Université de Montpellier, Télécom École de Management, Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, Université Aix-Marseille and Université Paris-Saclay, among others.
The students were joined by the first batch of CHED K to 12 grantees who availed of the CHED’s scholarship programs. Seventeen teachers are enrolled in post-graduate courses in chemistry, mathematics, engineering, marine biology and other courses.
Philippine Ambassador to France, H.E. Ma. Theresa P. Lazaro, welcomed the students and teachers and briefed them on the bilateral relations between the Philippines and France, which is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year.
To commemorate this important milestone, which coincides with the 50th anniversary of ASEAN, Ambassador Lazaro shared the upcoming activities organized by the Embassy: the ASEAN Film Festival featuring 2016 Metro Manila Film Festival entry Saving Sally, the French Animated Film Festival featuring five short animated Filipino films, the launching of a book on Philippine-France relations, as well as several business missions.
To ensure that information on all of these events is disseminated to the students and teachers, the Ambassador invited them to follow the Embassy’s Facebook page and Twitter account.
Over 60 cooperation agreements exist between Philippine and French academic institutions. This year, France welcomed almost 200 Filipino students.
